Jun 2025 | Biddinghuizen, The Netherlands | Q-dance
After months of preparation and 25 days of load-in, it was time for Defqon.1 Weekend Festival 2025: Where Legends Rise! Hosted by our friends from Q-dance, from Thursday, June 26th to Sunday, June 29th, an incredible 100,000 warriors united to experience performances across twelve unique areas, featuring hundreds of acts throughout the festival grounds.
So, our Backbone team was responsible for the technical design, including detailed 3D drawings, technical production, overlay production, the entire camping production, and the power infrastructure.
One of the standout elements within our scope was The RED — the main stage on the Holy Grounds, which grows in scale and complexity each year. For 2025, it reached a width of 197 meters and a height of 48 meters, but also featured:
At the heart of The RED stood its centerpiece: a massive circular structure, measuring 20 meters in diameter, with a mask. The mask itself measured 7 meters in height, 6.75 meters in width, and 7.75 meters in depth.
That wasn’t it all: our Backbone team was also responsible for the other areas. And we produced the side objects and all unique projects on the grounds and set up one of the largest campsites in Europe. Our crew worked weeks on-site to ensure everything was completed on time.
