About Electric Zoo: Evolved

Electric Zoo is an annual electronic music festival on Labor Day weekend on Randall’s Island in New York City. Since its inaugural edition in 2009, Electric Zoo has been on a transformative journey leading to this year’s theme, Electric Zoo: Evolved.

With various electronic music subgenres divided over four stages, the festival featured well-known artists like Eric Prydz, Armin van Buuren, Hardwell and Oliver Heldens but also offered a platform for underground artists. With 37.000 visitors, it was sold out and the best-attended edition in the history of the last 11 years of the Electric Zoo Festival.

Role of Backbone

Backbone International was responsible for this event’s production management, technical production, overlay management, decor production, and site operations. All stages were a complete custom build with a unique and custom design by Andrew Gumper.

As always, the weather can be unpredictable. We had beautiful weather for the show itself, but severe weather made the work more difficult during the ten-day and five-day load-out. However, our Backbone North American team was able to push through and complete all work needed to put on a successful and safe festival.
